CLASS FEES

Group Lessons Minimum 3 students. $20 each/ 1 hour per week – $30 each/1.5 hours per week

Semi-Private Class rate2 students – $30 each/ 1 hour lesson – $45 each/1.5 hours

Private Class1 student – $60/ 1 hour lesson – $90/1.5 hours, 1 child – $55/ 1 hour lesson

Children’s classes – 8 weeks, resuming in April 2023, “In Person” at Alliance Française Center.

Children’s class levels by age group:

Ages 4-6 years old – “A” group level

Ages 7-10 years old – “B” group level

Class fees for children:

8 week sessions – 1 hour lesson – 2 students – $240 each

8 week sessions – 1 hour lesson –  3 or more students – $160 each

Private sessions 1 student – $55 per hour

BONJOUR, MADAME 1AB – Beginners

French greetings, colors, numbers, shapes, adjectives and culture

Day and time – Thursday or Friday after school

Cost of Materials – $10 folder per session

Membership required – $10 per year.

CHEZ MOI  – 2 A & B  – Follows Beginners

Study the family and the house.

Day and time:
2A   Thursday – 4 to 5pm
2B   Thursday – 5:30 to 6:30pm

Cost of Materials – $10 per session

EN VOYAGE  –  5A – 1+ years of French

Visit the playground, the zoo, and the farm.

Day and time – 5A – Friday – 5:30 to 6:30pm

Cost of Materials – $10 per 8 week session

ADULT LEVELS OF PROFICIENCY

We offer 6 levels of proficiency ranked according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

A1 – Beginning French                      Everyday language: greetings, personal details, basic vocabulary

A2 – Low-Intermediate French          Survival language: family, shopping, routines

B1 – Intermediate French                  Practical language: work, school, travel

B2 – Upper-Intermediate French       Conversational language: in-depth discussions, opinions, spontaneity

C1 – Advanced French                      Proficient language: complexity, sub-text, near fluency

C2 – Near-Native French                   Student recommended to talk, read and listen to native speakers to perfect French language skills


ADULT CLASSES

Adult Beginners French Class

BEGINNERS FRENCH A1

This is the first class of the Beginners series. It takes an active approach to language, learning through everyday situation to learn to communicate quickly in French. Each lesson is based on three components: comprehension, practice and production. Grammar skills are promoted to enhance the understanding of the language.

Classes are to be held via Zoom, in the classroom, or en plein air

Fee will be determined by enrollment

Materials: Text and workbook, $50 Using Texto One

Prerequisite: Beginners series A1

ADVANCED CONVERSATIONAL FRENCH – C1-C2

A continuation of intermediate skills.

This is the last class of the Intermediate series. There is an emphasis on advanced grammar, vocabulary and fluency. There will also be a possible viewing of a French film.

Friday 11:00-noon (on Zoom only)

AFNWCT STUDENT POLICIES

All students are required to complete a New Student Enrollment form and be members in good standing of the Alliance Française of Northwestern Connecticut. Not a member? Click HERE to join, or write to ecole@afnwct.org to request form.

In view of our nonprofit status, our commitment to keeping tuition costs down, and our responsibility to our teachers, tuition fees cannot be transferred to another session. No refund or credit will be given for classes not attended however student may take a “makeup” class at the same level with prior permission from the instructor.

Withdrawal and Cancellation Policies: All cancellations must be received in writing. Please state the course name, the number of classes attended and the reason for the cancellation. Refunds will be processed according to the following:

  • If a request is made in writing before the beginning of the first class, class tuition will be refunded; however a $25 cancellation fee will be deducted.
  • If a request is made in writing before the second class, you will be refunded the full cost of the course; however a $25 cancellation fee + $25 for the first class will be deducted.
  • After the second class, no refund will be given.
  • Textbooks and exercise manuals purchased separately, if needed.
  • Books are not returnable nor are they refundable.
  • When a course is cancelled by the AFNWCT, payments are refunded in full.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

In the event of inclement weather that requires the cancellation of classes, discussion groups or other planned activities, a message will be left on the main AF Center telephone answering machine: 203-707-0710 indicating the times of closure. For those enrolled in classes, the instructor will attempt to contact students directly via the internet email address provided. All classes cancelled due to bad weather will have a makeup class scheduled.
