DESCRIPTION:Nous avons démarré une série de projections de films de la liste Anne-Christine Rice* que nous appelons Ciné-Souper-Discuter. Notre deuxieme projection aura lieu vendredi le 17 juin à 18h. Ce soir nous allons projecter le film: \nCyrano de Bergerac (1990)   This is an excellent comedy and considered Anne-Christine’s top choice for the “Cape et Épée” (swashbuckling) categorie of best French films. Soldier and poet Cyrano de Bergerac (Gérard Depardieu) is in love with Roxane (Anne Brochet)\, but he’s too ashamed to admit it because of his big nose. When a cadet\, Christian (Vincent Perez)\, falls for Roxane\, he asks for Cyrano’s help in sharing his feelings. Cyrano writes love letters signed with Christian’s name\, and Roxane doesn’t realize that it’s Cyrano’s words she falls for. She marries Christian\, and Cyrano continues to keep the other man’s secret\, even after tragedy strikes.  Director: Jean-Paul Rappeneau. She teaches French language and Film at Tufts University\, where she is also the founder and director of the French Film Experience (French cine-club). She is the author of the best-selling textbook\, “Cinema for French Conversation\,” an exciting book for incorporating French cinema and culture into a French language course. Her other textbook\, “La France contemporaine à travers ses films” leverages film to explore present-day French culture and society.
