Manon (Emmanuelle Béart)\, a beautiful shepherdess in Provence\, France\, has lost her father and seen her family’s livelihood ruined through the greediness of her neighbors: Ugolin (Daniel Auteuil) and his grandfather\, Cesar (Yves Montand). Now grown and living in isolation from the village\, she plots revenge against the men for their misdeeds. Her plot is complicated by Ugolin\, who has fallen in love with her — but Manon’s retribution will not be deterred. SUMMARY:"The Younger Generation" Short Films Festival Program
DESCRIPTION:The Alliance Francaise of NW CT\, in collaboration with the Southbury Film Commission\, continues its Short Film Festival with Program 7 of Eurochannel’s 6th Short Film Tour at the AF Center\, Southbury on Friday\, October 23 starting at 7:00 pm. All short films\, ranging from 5 to 30 minutes\, have the theme of “Youth in Europe” and are shown in their original version with English subtitles. \nThis grouping of films will feature some very sweet stories – two very amusing shorts about an upcoming soccer star and a mischievous daughter\, we’re back in the pool again for another swimming story\, a couple of thought-provoking animated shorts – it’s another great program you won’t want to miss!… \nIn addition to one short film by a director from France (Bourgogne) there will be films ranging from 6 to 28 minutes from Switzerland (German Region)\, Germany (Berlin)\, Lithuania\, Ireland\, Netherlands (Utrecht)\, Croatia and Latvia (Estonia). \nAll films are shown in their original language with English subtitles. We’ll show two films\, followed by brief discussions\, led by our own cinema aficionada\, Carol Donahue\, before moving on to the next ones.
