DESCRIPTION:Hermione: “La Mise à Flot de la Coque” \nFree Showing\, Friday\, 7pm\, June 26 at our AF Center \nThis DVD portrays the splendid celebrations held in Rochefort\, France when the almost finished reconstructed “Hermione” first touches the waters. \nOn March 19\, 1780\, the original Hermione left Rochefort\, carrying General Lafayette and a strong force of French soldiers who played an instrumental role in the Battle of Yorktown\, where they joined General Washington’s troops to blockade the British\, leading to the eventual surrender of English General Cornwallis. \nNow\, after 20 years of preparations\, Hermione has returned to the USA.  Local dockings and tours will be held in New York\, NY (July 2-4) and in Newport R.I.
