SUMMARY:Musique Francaise at Leroy Anderson House in Woodbury
DESCRIPTION:“Musique Française\,” a program of French concert music and chansons\, will be presented at the Leroy Anderson House in Woodbury\, on Sunday\, November 3rd at 3 p.m. Performers include Rebecca N esmith\, soprano; Jennifer Anthony-Bogue\, flutist; Joseph Darcourt\, cellist and Susan Anthony-Klein\, pianist. They will perform works by Hector Berlioz\, Charles Gounod and Jules Massenet. \nThe concert is free\, seating is limited and reservations are required.  Please call the Alliance to make your reservations at 203-707-0710 by October 20th or email.  The Leroy Anderson House is located at 33 Grassy Hill Road\, Woodbury. \nRebecca Nesmith\, soprano\, studied and performed at the Metropolitan Opera and has performed worldwide in major operatic roles.  She has also performed locally with the CT Choral Society\, Litchfield Hills Opera Ensemble and the Heritage Singers. \nJennifer Anthony-Bogue\, flutist\, has performed with the Naugatuck Community Choir\, Newtown Choir and Salem Covenant Church in Washington. \nJoseph Darcourt is a pre-college student of cello at the Juilliard School in New York City.  He had his debut at Carnegie Hall in 2019. He took first place in the American Protégé competition in NYC in May 2019. \nSusan Anthony-Klein was the music director at Salem Covenant Church in Washington for 28 years.  She is the accompanist for the Naugatuck Community Choir\, the Newtown Choral Society and the Ridgefield Chorale.  Earlier in her career\, Susan was the accompanist for the St. Cecilia Chorus in New York City under the direction of David Randolph.  She performed with that group a total of seven times at Carnegie Hall including major choral works of Bach\, Haydn and Orff.  Susan toured throughout the United States with the Norman Luboff Choir and the Robert deCormier Singers. \nThe Leroy Anderson House is the former home of composer Leroy Anderson and his wife Eleanor Anderson.  On the National Register of Historic Places\, this historic house museum and surrounding land are owned by the Leroy Anderson Foundation.
